Good afternoon

Thank you for signing up to receive updates about Botanical Place, West Byfleet
Site update - no late working tonight
With apologies for the rather short notice, we want to let you know that the planned late-working session scheduled for this evening has had to be called off and rearranged. This means that there will be no works tonight and we will finish at the usual time.

The specialist concrete finishing work will still need to be completed and so Higgins Partnership is arranging a revised programme. Provided there are no further upsets, this means there will be late working next Wednesday (29 March) and the Wednesday after (5 April).

The impact of weather on construction
At this stage in the construction, the weather can play a significant part. The high winds last week, which reduced our ability to use the tower cranes, coupled with the wet weather this week affecting the concrete’s curing and finishing processes, are good examples of this.

Looking ahead
The team at Higgins Partnerships, working with their specialist suppliers, are using modern, low-carbon techniques. Some elements of this are time sensitive meaning that once started, the process needs to be completed within the same working day.

For this reason, we expected to need additional extensions to working hours. As the weather warms, which will reduce the curing time for the concrete, the need to work late should diminish. However, the concrete pouring phase is scheduled to run for several months.

Our communication
As you know, we will always try to keep our neighbours and the wider community up to date on the work we are doing. When complete, the centre of West Byfleet will be regenerated, with new shops and amenities, a vibrant public square, community spaces, public parking and, of course, 198 exciting new apartments creating independent living for older, local people. In order to finish this project, there is going to be some disruption during the construction and completion phases.

Please do let us know if you have any questions or concerns of if you would like to know more about what Botanical Place will bring to West Byfleet.
RICS

The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors has recently published an article on Botanical Place written by our very own senior project manager Terry Unitt – we thought you might like to have a read. The article explains why Botanical Place serves as a template for the development sector in its response to the environmental and wider challenges the UK faces in the years ahead.
