What duration is required for emergency lighting?

While there are some general rules which we have outlined below, a few words of caution:

  1. A building may have a specific emergency lighting design and therefore must be tested based on the design which will consider use, size, occupancy etc.
  2. Ideally you have access to this design information (either from the compliance schedule, electrical spec, or fire report)
  3. The general rules outlined below may not cover older buildings or buildings that have had alternative solution designs or specific engineered solutions and conditions approved
  4. If the requirements are unclear, then the general rules outlined below can be used to determine what duration test the IQP believes is applicable & this conclusion provided to the building owner recommending they obtain professional design advice to confirm
