Golden Rule No 15

Protect Your Security Measures

That which protects must itself be protected. Adversaries may attempt to bypass security by disabling detection and surveillance systems or overpowering response forces.

Here are some key measures to ensure your security systems remain effective:

- Intrusion Detection Systems: Incorporate line supervision to alert operators to abnormal conditions. Ensure these systems are protected from being disabled.

- CCTV Cameras: Mount cameras in locations that are difficult to access. Protect masts against climbers and consider housing cameras in vandal-resistant domes.

- Cabling: Pay attention to protecting all cabling to prevent tampering.

- Security Staff: Place security personnel in protected gatehouses and equip them with appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Defensive PPE may include stab-resistant body armour, while offensive PPE, such as incapacitating sprays, should be used in accordance with local laws.

By implementing these measures, you can ensure that your security systems remain robust and effective against potential threats.
