8872 WINDOWS 10 END OF LIFE UPDATE |

Users concerned with Microsoft 'end of life' (EOL) support should be aware that the major media publicized date of October 2025 applies only to retail and home versions, and do not necessarily apply to their 8872s. Model 8872s delivered originally with Windows 10 Pro were supplied with the LTSC (Long Term Support Channel) version which has support until January 2029). Units originally delivered with Windows 7 Pro that were later upgraded by Agilaire do utilize the retail version, and will see end of security updates next fall. Microsoft has advertised an optional extended support subscription plan for Windows 10 Pro security updates for up to three years after October 2025, but details of this extended support program have not yet been published. We will keep our user base updated as details are published next year.
To determine which version you have, connect to your 8872's desktop and run the 'winver' command from the Windows Start Menu:

This will bring up one of two resulting windows.
1) The LTSC version of Windows 10 will display the following. |

Windows 10 LTSC version 1809 is under extended support until 1/9/2029: |

During extended support, Microsoft will provide security updates at no additional cost. This means that Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2019 (1809) will continue to receive security updates until January 9, 2029, ensuring ongoing protection from the latest security threats.
2) An individually keyed Windows 10 version which was an upgrade to a logger originally purchased with Windows 7. As documented on the Windows 10 Pro lifecycle page, Windows 10 will reach end of support on October 14, 2025. |

PC in loggers purchased prior to August 2023 (~logger SN 1429) are NOT Windows 11 compatible.
