The kits include seed packages, small envelopes for splitting and sharing larger seed packages, a guide to hosting a seed sharing event, stickers, and pens to help Leagues set up a seed sharing table at an existing Community League event or even to kickstart a larger seed sharing event.
Community Leagues can order a kit for the 2026 growing season here.
“I was watering at our Cameron Heights Community Garden this morning and so happy we have this place for our Community to gather and appreciate. We are so grateful for the seed sharing kit because not only does it enable us to try different seeds in our containers but we are able to share the seeds with volunteers and all visitors to our garden.”

Solar PV and Energy Efficiency upgrade funding available through the Municipal Climate Change Action Centre.
With support from the City of Edmonton, Community Leagues are eligible for financial rebates through the Municipal Climate Change Action Centre (MCCAC). Funding is limited and interested Leagues should submit an Expression of Interest form for their projects as soon as possible.
The MCCAC has two rebates that are available to Leagues:
This program provides financial rebates to help identify energy-saving opportunities and implement retrofits for energy efficiency and financial savings.
- Energy Audits – Up to 50% of pre-GST audit costs (per facility) to a maximum of $7,500 for all municipal facilities.
- Retrofit Projects – Up to 50% of pre-GST project costs. Projects may receive 25-50% of project costs depending on the abatement rate.
- Retrofit Project Bonus – A bonus 10% project cost rebate will apply if a CEC project results in a 20% or greater reduction in facility-wide emissions.
To get started, Read the Guidebook and submit an Expression of interest as the first non-committal step in the application process.
This program provides financial rebates to install grid-connected alternative energy generation systems for Leagues to help save energy and money while reducing emissions.
Eligible project types can include:
- Solar photovoltaic systems
- Combined heat and power systems; and
- Other on-site electricity generation systems evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
To get started, Read the Guidebook and submit an Expression of Interest as the first, non-committal step in the application process.

Do we really need a project manager?
Shaun, our Infrastructure and Amenities Advisor, sits down with Scott, a seasoned consultant from VA Projects, to talk about one of the most common misconceptions in construction and renovation projects — “Do we really need a project manager?”
They break down the misconceptions and highlight the real value a project manager brings — protecting budgets, timelines, and reducing stress. For leagues and volunteer boards, having someone to coordinate the moving parts can make all the difference.
Watch the full conversation and see why a project manager might be your project’s greatest asset. Reach out to Shaun for further questions about Project Managers and how to move forward. |

We respectfully acknowledge the land upon which the EFCL operates is located on Treaty 6 Territory and has served a purpose as a traditional meeting ground for many First Nations groups. This territory has provided a traveling route and home to the Nakoda Sioux, and later, Blackfoot and Cree peoples, followed by Saulteaux and Métis and other Indigenous peoples. |
